ILLINOIS STATE CAPITAL BUILDING<br />
houses the executive and legislative branches of the government of the state of Illinois. In 1818, the current building became the sixth capitol of the state since its admission to the United States in 1818. <br />

The capital dome is covered in zinc to provide a silvery facade which does not weather.<br />
